ABOUT SEMO MEN’S FRATERNITY The SEMO Chapter of Men´s Fraternity began in September of 2004 in Patrick´s Furniture Store in Cape Girardeau. The first year was the result of a few men in a bible study that had heard about Men´s Fraternity and the impact it was having on 1,200 men weekly in Little Rock, Arkansas. This vision for Southeast Missouri, led about 30 men to meet once a week at 6:15 am to listen to Robert Lewis´ video teaching on the topic of “The Quest for Authentic Manhood”. Each man was drawn back again and again by the dynamic and insightful message. The message challenged men to probe their past and explore wounds that had been unattended or buried. These included wounds such as an absent father, an overly controlling mother, the lack of a mentor, or confusion as to what it means to be a ‘man´ from God´s viewpoint rather than Hollywood´s version. The message also clearly defined the roles of men and women in marriage, leadership in the home, as well as relationship with sons and daughters. As these men experienced the guidance of biblical teaching, they laughed and talked and shared their personal stories. They also found that they wanted to invite other men to experience this message and camaraderie. Although the men came from a variety of religious affiliations, they found a common thread of understanding that men of all ages and backgrounds have the same deeply felt need for guidance to fulfill a clearly designed plan God has for every man. The participants in the SEMO Men´s Fraternity are excited about the possibility of sharing Robert Lewis´ message with men throughout southeast Missouri. It is our dream that hundreds, even thousands, of men in our area will rise to the challenge of becoming authentic men that are outstanding and unapologetic examples of Godly character in our homes and community. We feel that understanding and living the role of authentic men is crucial to the spiritual and emotional health of our children, our churches, and our culture.
